Dayo's banging on the door, by this time, me and Segun were cracking up bad, so I told him to open the door that I will stay under the sheets. Lol
He opens the door for Dayo who comes barging in cracking jokes as usual, taunting and teasing. Gosh, could the mattress have swallowed me then? I would have been glad for that to have happened! He did not come for anything important that I can remember, I guess he must have been bored by his company and probably wanted to just have some laughs. Segun dismissed him and locked the door after him. He then rejoins me in bed apologized profusely, but I had gotten to know Dayo and his brash ways by then and told him not to worry that I was fine. We continued chatting and one thing led to another and we made love again. We barely slept that night. When the first cock croaked at dawn, we laughed and decided to sleep finally!
I woke up at 12 noon to find him looking at my face. I smiled and asked if everything was okay. He said yes that he loved how I look while sleeping, peaceful! Lol....

I was about to go to my dorm but I did not have the nerve to go alone as I thought my friends will see "sex" all written on my face, so I go get Yetunde from Jonomo's room for moral support. Lol....she was not ready to leave but I dragged her anyways! Jonomo and Segun walk us home and we all stayed at our dorm all day chatting with the rest of our housemates. I was always touchy-feely with Segun before we started dating, so I guess none of the other girls apart from Yetunde could tell I was up all night sexing! Lol...
As unbelievable as it was, here I was only 4 days into this relationship and I gave it up already! What ever happened to the one year mark? Or even "till my wedding night" ish? Thing was, we had been besties for most of the year and it just felt right!
By the beginning of December, I was so comfortable with the idea that we were a couple now. All my mates knew or rather confirmed that we were dating and so did all his friends. My birthday was coming up and I did not have any idea what I was going to do as this was my first birthday away from home! Well, he told our friends there will be food and drinks and for everyone to come hang out. When he told me, I was like, "what?" He asks what I'll need to buy and I was dumb for a few seconds as I dont take money from guys or ask. I was close to broke as the holidays were around the corner. When I did not respond on time, he lays some money on the table and says he 'll handle the drinks then he kisses me and leaves!
I am still in shock as I pick the money up to count it. He had left N1500! Keep in mind this was the year 2000! I lived in the indigenous town of Ago-Iwoye! Where food is dirt cheap! My pocket money a month was N5000 from my folks! Yetunde brings me out of my reverie saying we better head to Ago market as it was open that day. The market comes open every four days and my birthday was the next day. We headed out and came back a couple of hours later. One would have thought we were throwing a block party with the amount of food we came back with!
Then Yetunde asks, "who is going to cook all these?" I laughed and said me of cause! See, I loved cooking! Cooking was my past-time those days. I cooked for the whole house regularly to the point that Segun's friends were constant fixtures in our dorm! At first he was weary about his boys coming over just to eat and thinking I was their cook! I assured him I was fine with all the cooking. I simply loved feeding my boo and his boys. Besides, he always kept me company while I cooked, though he was always picking at my meat in the pot through out the whole cooking process but it felt great to have him there all the time! Yay me!
I called for Sanmi and Namso to help with the cooking as I knew they were also good at it. We did not sleep that night, getting the ingredients and veggies for the main courses ready as we could not cook it the night before. We spent the night prepping and chatting. First thing the next day, Sanmi said, "how are we going to cook all these food on the stove? It will take forever and not get ready on time for when guests started coming." Lol... I laughed and told her not to worry. Thank God for living in a huge compound in Akute, and also thank God for days of no light and boredom that had us cooking over an open flame at home.
I told the girls I knew how to light an open fire to cook with, all we needed were the big open flame pans which we borrowed from our indigenous neighbors. While trying to light the fire, Segun comes by and I could tell he was blown away at my ability to do this. He kisses me, wishes me a happy birthday and went on his duties for the day.
By 2pm, the food was all done! We had a huge platter from salads, to jollof rice, to fried rice, to chicken, goat meat, cow meat, snacks, fruits etc. We had so much meat, we made kebabs!(stick meat)
We all went to clean up and get ready for the guests to arrive. By 6pm, my mates started trailing in and his friends joined in shortly. It was just meant to be a "come-chop" but with the number of folks we had in front of the hall, chairs had to be rented as our rooms were already packed with folks hanging out. Then "NEPA" played a doozie on us and we were left in the dark. Candles and lanterns came on and I felt that the come-chop will be over soon. Wrong! Segun rallied with Abbey and Tolu, the next thing I know, I heard loud music blasting and I look around and see that a boombox was connected to a car battery! At this time, I see Tolu dragging in a 25 liter keg of "palmie" jeezz! Now the party started!
Folks danced the night away! Excess food and drinks! Friendship, fun and birthday! My boo threw me the best birthday party ever! Was I really falling for this guy? We were only kicking it right?
That night was mad fun! But due to the 10pm curfew, folks had to leave by 9pm. People did not want to go but no one wanted to be a scapegoat for the town vigilantes! Lol... We said our good byes and my housemates helped with the clean up. Segun said he was going to sleep over and also help with the cleaning. Yetunde left with Jonomo and Kemi with her mates, leaving me, Segun and Tolu. Tolu lived in the next room to me and was still cracking jokes and drinking with Segun.
I recall in the process of that evening, Chinko had come with a wrap of weed seeds he wanted to put in the palmie and I was mad at him for even thinking I was that kind of party girl! He was a friend of Segun, I had told him to deal with his boy as I wasn't having no crap like that!
After the cleanup was done, I chased Tolu out of my room so I could celebrate privately with my boo. I didn't think he got any other presents as the party in itself was great! As always, he surprises me again! Cake, cards that I still have today and a cute lilac shirt! Who are you! Could I be that lucky???
Oh well, a little intoxicated but still lucid, I gave him the night of his life! I did not care if my housemates heard me going at it! There was no light so no radio sound to drown my moans and groans, besides it was my birthday gaddamit!!!
