"Segun!" No way! He can't like me like that? He is like a brother to me and I don't want our friendship being all weird like that due to his feelings for me! I sure was not feeling him the way he thought. We were best of friends! I could tell him anything with no reservations. I could even get undressed with him in the room without fearing that he'll want to jump my bones! Besides I knew his girl, not like we were friends or anything like that but I knew her regardless and had been telling him lately to give her a chance.
Oh well, I told Toyin he was probably pulling his legs that Segun can't be no secret admirer of mine. He told me to just wait till we got back to school. I spoke with Segun that night and was trying to read his words for any clues to the said fact that he was feeling me. Nothing! He cracked jokes and gisted in his regular way so I figured Toyin must have gotten it all wrong. I pushed the thoughts away and continued on not mentioning a word about it.
Few weeks later, school was back on. It was the last week of October at this time. I was bored out of my head. During the break, we lost one of our mates in an accident right in front of his home. A bike crashed into him. He was in a coma for a week and later died. He had a huge crush on Kemi Ojo and she equally liked him but was just taking her time to know him some more. RIP Folabi.....
Well, I decided to go back to school even though not everyone was back there. Segun had called and said he was going so I at least had my bestie in school with me. That was all that mattered.
Getting to school, our electricity was what we called "tomato light" as it was not full current. Sometimes it barely lit the bulbs that even candles shone brighter. Knocking on my housemates doors to see who was back in school, only Deola and Tinu were back. Their rooms were opposite mine. Cool chics, miss them plenty.
As I was unpacking, I heard someone knocking at my door, it was Segun. Hugged, punched, shouted and the whole works laughing as we exchanged pleasantries. As always he was poking around to see what I brought from home food-wise. I made us some dinner; noodles and sardine! Lol
We chatted and exchanged our stay at home tales. All the while, I noticed his demeanor was a little different. I just passed it off as, well I had not seen him in a bit so I probably forgot his mannerisms. Regardless, I kept catching him looking at me like he never did but still let it slide.
I was sitting on a small stool and facing him as we talked. He was seated on a chair opposite me. Out of the blues he said, "you know your lips are very kissable?" And before I could respond, he kissed me..... The moment I felt his lips against mine, something moved inside me and I almost burst in tears but got a hold of myself quickly. The kiss was the barest of touches, so innocent and sweet at the same time. No tongue action whatsoever.....
Being the tom-boy thug I was, I asked what the kiss was for. He answered that he has always liked me beyond best friend state. I laughed and said he couldn't be serious! Knowing that I was staying clear of guys all together. I reminded him that if I dated any guy right then, he could never have the best of me because I was not going to be a nice or sweet girlfriend and that I would cause such a guy a while lot of pain. His response was that he was willing to take the chance.
Goodness me! Then I remembered the gist I had with Toyin and asked about it. He confirmed it and I said, "oh well, what could I lose?" My only question was, would we still remain friends as we were because I did not want to lose his friendship. He assured me that our friendship will only grow some more! Oh my! I warned him again that I will not be nice as in my mind we are just going kick it, nothing serious or commited. Lol...we laughed and sealed it with a full on kiss.....
Now that second kiss was...... Oooh! We chatted some more then he left for his place. The next day, Yetunde came to school and her first words were, "so you and Segun, how far? Y'all dating?" Am looking at her like, "you knew he liked me too?" She giggled and said yes she did as Jonomo told her Segun had said he was going to ask me out. Oh well, so I gave her the gist and she was giggling and teasing me all day.
Segun came by on his way to town. By now I was self conscious and did not know how we were expected to behave now as a couple. He saved the day, gives me a big bear hug and plants an equally big kiss on my mouth.....breath-taking! The Ladele sisters were just coming in the dorm at the sight of the kiss and the next thing was chics screaming, squealing, laughing and teasing us. Jeez.....lol.
He asked if I needed anything from the store, I sure did not and told him so. When he got back, I had lunch ready, everyone fixed themselves a plate and we all sat around catching up on home tales. By nightfall, Dayo and Jonomo were back from home too. Yetunde had no time for the rest of us common folk, she clung on to her man for dear life! Lol.. We all went to Bobagunwa, myself, Yetunde, Segun, Dayo and Jonomo. We sat in their yard talking all night, I figured well I'll spend the night as the curfew was on even though we were only a few doors down. At least we are dating so it doesn't matter anyways! I had spents nights here before when we were just friends so I trusted him completely.
Yetunde and Jonomo retired to his room and so did Dayo too to his his room. Dayo liked big girls and had some company for the night too..... Segun and I went to his own room. I did not have a change of clothes so I just laid on his bed. By now, with other nights I had spent here, I had my own side of the bed; I was always on the inside part, where the bed and wall met.
He was self conscious I could tell, he took off his jeans pants and shirt. Clad in just boxers and a vest he joined me on the bed and we gisted all night! Dayo came to his door a few times telling us to keep it down as we were cracking ourselves up so bad. I am sure he initially thought we were doing the hoochie-coochie! Lol.
Around 5am, still awake but feeling sleepy, we decided to sleep. I was way too excited to be spending the night with "my dude"! Though tired, I couldn't quite sleep. I was restless and he asked me what was wrong. Thing was, I am a very cuddly, snugglie sleeper! I had a stuffed elephant my dad bought from Japan when I was much younger and I always slept with it. Problem was, it was in my room at my dorm. I told him this and asked if it will be okay to snuggle him so I could sleep? He laughed, kissed me on the forehead and drew me to him and said sure.
My sleep that night was so peaceful, we woke up at 9am the next morning and I felt so refreshed like I had a full 8hours sleep. That day was a Friday I recall, we sure had not started classes. I went to my dorm to take a bath and change of clothes. Made food and him and his roomies came over for lunch. We all just hung out. We were young and didn't have any cares in the world!
Kemi was back from home that day as were most other students from their homes. We all caught up and I spent the night in my dorm that night telling Segun I'll spend the weekend at his and sent him and his roomies home with dinner.
Saturday was usually laundry, clean-up, hairdo day. There was not much to do for me. By now, I was getting used to looking in the direction of Bobagunwa to catch a glimpse of Segun on his way to my dorm. True to norm, he was just on his way. I met him halfway. Told him I wanted to go to Ago-garage to get some food. He stopped a bike for me, I hopped on and next thing, he hopped on behind me. He held on to me from behind and for the first time ever, I felt his manhood against my butt.
